Cleveland SPE Members,
On October 13, at Corporate College East, Beachwood, OH, the SPE Injection Molding Division and the SPE CLE Chapter, were excited to host an in-person technical conference: “SUSTAINABILITY ROCKS: PART II”
The conference was dedicated to the memory of Peter Grelle, SPE Injection Molding Division Technical Director, who held this role since 1991. Pete was also active in the Detroit SPE Chapter. He was a passionate plastics professional who will be deeply missed.
Over sixty attendees engaged with eleven circular economy expert presenters and six industry sponsors (MAGNET OH Manufacturing Extension Partnership; Beaumont, HASCO, Kistler, Moxietec and Polymer Systems Solutions/ Regloplas). Following the technical presentations, the event concluded with a networking reception which was thoroughly enjoyed by all. As Program Chair, I would like to express sincere thanks to David Okonski, SPE IMD Chair; Dennis Meade, SPE CLE Councilor and Dr. Saeed Farahani from the IMD Board of Directors for their support with the planning, organization and assistance on the day of the conference. View the conference program here.
We are planning some remote and in-person events starting up in January 2023. Stay tuned! More information to follow!
Best regards,
Susan Montgomery
SPE Cleveland Section President
Cleveland and Akron SPE Chapters crewed an Exhibit booth at AMI to educate attendees on SPE, our member benefits and our education programs. We met with many of the attendees through out the two day event and I believe we developed interest in several individuals to join and even possibly to accept Chapter Board Positions.
Our thanks to Rik Keeley, Ron Raleigh and Dennis Meade from the Cleveland Chapter and Dave Schults and Joe Maddingly from the Akron Chapter for manning the booth.
SPE Cleveland Members,
On October 31, I participated in our National Council Meeting directed by Executive Board President, Jason Lyons and Chief Executive Officer, PatFarrey. Pat Farrey discussed our new programs for “On Demand” speakers on specific
topics such as “Leadership Skills, Coloring of Plastics…etc.”
SPE has contracted with Dr. Sarah Skidmore as a facilitator to assist SPE in their Diversity, Equity and Inclusion efforts. Dr. Skidmore’s biography is posted on the website. Click Here.
The Executive Board has created a new staff position – Director of Technical Programs and has hired Dr. Ivan Lopez to fill that role. His biography is posted on the SPE website. Click Here.
Dr. Scott Eastman, VP of Chapters reviewed with the Board our SPE Code of Conduct and that future attendees to SPE Events will be asked to accept our Code of Conduct as a condition of registration: “SPE Event Code of Conduct”.
Councilors will be voting this month on a new SPE President and 3 openings on the Executive Director openings. After the Council Meeting we had an on-line meet and greet with the candidates.
Next Council meeting will be held at: ANTEC® 2023 at the Hilton Denver Center, Denver, CO from March 27–30, 2023
